Wild Bird Cottage is a beautiful farmhouse-style retreat, perfect for couples, friends, or families seeking a cosy getaway in the heart of the Garden Route. Once an artist’s studio, this private, pet-friendly cottage combines creativity with comfort, adorned with original artworks and offering stunning views of fynbos-covered hills, Rondevlei Lake, and the Outeniqua Mountains.
The cottage features two en-suite bedrooms: one with a luxurious king-sized extra-long bed (convertible to two singles on request), and another with a queen bed plus a sleeper couch suitable for small children. The fully equipped kitchen, lounge, and dining area provide everything needed for a comfortable stay, with Wi-Fi and a smart TV for added convenience.
Step onto the spacious covered deck to enjoy breathtaking views, a gas barbecue, and an enclosed garden complete with a traditional farm fire pit, perfect for magical evenings under the stars. Inside and outside dining areas ensure comfort in any weather.
A short stroll brings you to the shared pool area and scenic farm trails, where you can explore the beauty of the fynbos with your dogs off-leash. Bordering the Wilderness National Park, the farm offers direct access to hiking trails and a serene escape in nature.
Wild Bird Cottage is sustainably powered by solar energy, ensuring a reliable, eco-friendly stay with no loadshedding. Self-check-in is available, and staff are always on-site to assist if needed. Please note that the sleeper couch is only suitable for children.
NOTE: due to a maintenance issue we have stayed at another accommodation (“the cabin”) on the same farm/premises. Upon arrival we were amazed about the beautiful location and the cabin itself. As mentioned above, we booked the wild bird cottage but eventually we have stayed in ‘the cabin’. The cabin was beautiful and had a lot of space, it was well equipped with everything we needed including a gas BBQ. A nice fire place area and the hot tub made the experience complete.The views are amazing and if you are looking for a tranquil place, we would definitely recommend.
Lovely cabin and rustic setting! If you love camping, glamping, or being close to nature, this is the place for you. We really enjoyed the walking paths through the fynbos and were impressed with how many birds we saw! The air was cool and fresh, and we loved that though we were only a few kilometers from the beach, we felt like we were in an entirely different world. The cabin is decorated really cute with local art (that you can buy!) and fun touches like tea, coffee, and marshmallows for roasting in the backyard fire pit. The rooms and spaces were super clean and you could even drink the water from the tap! Thanks for a great stay!
We had a wonderful time. The cottage had everything we needed and more. Beautiful location; it was super peaceful, and abundant with birdlife. 10/10 experience.

We had the most lovely stay at the Wild Bird Cottage! It was peaceful, charming, and incredibly welcoming. Our dogs absolutely loved it too - it’s completely pet friendly and thoughtfully set up for both humans and their furry companions. We had the best time and can’t wait to visit again! The cottage is perfectly designed, decorated and equipped. A beautiful space with lots of thoughtful details that make you feel really special.
The private garden is lovely, we especially enjoyed the fire pit.
And there's beautiful walking routes starting right at the cottage.
